The club was opened in 1934/35 and was registered with the Club Institutes Union the same year. We are a Working Men’s Club but did not want to be affiliated to any political party, that is why it took its present name. At this site you will discover all about us. We are a family friendly club and allow children (supervised by parents at all times), in the games and concert rooms.  Affiliated Members must “sign in” and have a current valid pass card, which must be produced when asked. Guests/Non Members must be “signed in” by a member of Stone Chair Variety Club. The latest times for “signing in” are above.

We have Sky Sports available in the games rooms. Bingo is held on Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday nights, although on the 1st Saturday of the month we have artistes appearing. Many organisations use the club as their Headquarters, ie Shelf Bowls Club, Shelf Gala Committee, Dean Valley Motorcycle Club, which meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month, and Shelf Utd A.F.C., who have two teams playing in the Halifax & Dist’ Football Lge. The club also takes part in the Dudley Hill & Dist’ Games League and consists of snooker, whist, dominoes and darts. This takes place during the autumn/winter months on Monday evenings.
